The Athliance platform educates student-athletes about the processes and pitfalls of name, image, and likeness activities while simplifying and automating the input, guidance, monitoring, reporting, and disclosure process for all opportunities.
West Virginia University and The Brandr Group have established a group licensing agreement for the university's student-athletes covering all the Mountaineers' 18 varsity sports. This partnership creates new opportunities for West Virginia's student-athletes to profit off their NIL using the school's official trademarks and logos.
West Virginia University athletics today announced the launch of Icon Suite, an innovative name, image, and likeness tool from Icon Source, the leading digital marketplace connecting brands and athletes for endorsements and partnerships, for all Mountaineer student-athletes and community members. Icon Suite will continue to position West Virginia athletics at the forefront of NIL opportunities, providing a seamless, compliant system for connecting brands, ??alumni, and other interested parties with student-athletes for NIL deals.
Student-athletes are expected to refrain from engaging in name, image, and likeness activities that are related to "pay for play," impermissible inducements, or extra benefits. Impermissible name, image, and likeness activities, include, but are not limited to:
Benefits provided to student-athletes through name, image, and likeness activities must be consistent with institutional policies of WVU.
Student-athletes must conduct their activities in adherence to a set of ethical standards which are compatible with those of WVU. These include, but are not limited to, honesty, integrity, trustworthiness, and respect for others. WVU in its sole discretion, retains the right to disapprove any activity deemed to suggest an endorsement by WVU or that reflects unfavorably upon WVU and/or WVU student-athletes. Specifically, WVU retains the right to disapprove any activity that promotes or otherwise references certain prohibited categories, including, but not limited to:
A student-athlete may not use institutional logos and/or trademarks in noninstitutional name, image, and likeness activities when a student-athlete is engaging in an activity which promotes or endorses a third-party service or product without written approval by West Virginia University Brand and Trademark Licensing.

Student-athletes are permitted to include a reference to WVU consistent with institutional policies applicable to any student. For the avoidance of doubt, student-athletes are permitted to identify themselves as "Current WVU Student-Athlete."
Student-athletes are not permitted to miss class to participate in any noninstitutional name, image, and likeness activity. Additionally, noninstitutional name, image, likeness activities may not occur while the student-athlete has reported on call for practice or competition and representing WVU.
Use of institutional facilities for noninstitutional name, image, and likeness activities which promote and/or endorse a third-party commercial product or service is not permitted.
International student-athletes should not enter into any activities involving compensation for name, image, and likeness activities without first receiving guidance from West Virginia University International Students and Scholars Services to protect themselves against any potential immigration issues.

Eligibility for need-based financial aid, including the Pell Grant, could be impacted based on compensation from name, image, and likeness activities. Questions regarding the effect name, image, and likeness activities have on need-based financial aid should be directed to West Virginia University Office of Student Financial Services.

Student-athletes should disclose all name, image, and likeness activities, including information related to transactions, compensation arrangements, and details of relationships with any involved individuals, commercial entities, and/or third parties (e.g., contact information, identification of role) within 72 hours prior to the activity occurring. All noninstitutional name, image, and likeness activities should be reported through the mobile app: Athliance. The institution should vet and approve the requested activity within 72 hours of receiving the information.
If agreements and details of an approved arrangement to promote a commercial product or service are amended, the student-athlete should provide written updates within 14 days of the change.
West Virginia University will provide student-athletes with education regarding financial literacy, brand building, and educational workshops focusing on the name, image, and likeness activities.
